Just got a new Proteus for 2025 since a family member ran off with my first one. An unmatched melding of durability and comfort, this is the only hat my sons will keep on at the beach all day. While I have no doubt that the sports-use reviews are all accurate, my beach/pool triathlon entails throwing a football, drinking beer, and falling asleep while reading. The Proteus endures all of that and is still ready to convert to a suitable cap for dinner at a beach restaurant.

This is the only just you'll ever need! The sun protection and styling is top notch. While wearing it as a normal hat, you do not even know the flaps are there. I have 4 and will definitely buy more.

Great hat with full coverage of neck and ears too. Most hats with a back flap only cover the back of your neck, but this hat is innovative because it covers your ears also. I love that the flap can be put up inside the hat to be worn as a regular hat. The best part is that you don’t feel it when it is inside. Amazing idea. Protection when you need it, and able to wear the same hat if you don’t need the flap, as when it’s night or you’re inside somewhere. Great protection to help prevent skin cancer. It’s also lightweight. Give it a try, you’ll love it!

My protean headware is dynamic and next level versatile. Since owning my new headware, I’m undefeated in HORSE (in the pool- the hats waterproof!!), my beer has been tasting colder, I’ve invented 3 new dad jokes that even my wife laughed at, and my neck has never been more uv protected when I but the grass. Overall, whole new level of living life when I have my proteen headware on!!

Really digging it! I wore the hat with the flaps down playing pickleball this past weekend as it got sunny. Kept the back of my neck and the sides of face area cool & covered. No issues of it flapping around while I was hitting my shots. Great product!
